The Amnesty Bill Is Dead
Great news! According to this story the Amnesty Bill is dead. Ted Kennedy said the defeat was “enormously disappointing for Congress and for the country.” I have to say that anything that is disappointing for Kennedy is good for the rest of us.
Kennedy then added “We will be back. This issue is not going away.” We need to remember this threat. Bush and Kennedy will not be happy until this monstrosity is law, and the hordes of illegal Mexicans are welcomed as citizens.

Daniel:
You know, I am reminded of when we were all so surprised that GWB was in agreement with Ted Kennedy on education - they were practically bosom buddies about it.
June 29, 2007, 12:20:10It strikes me that GWB really is not a conservative at all, as I have been suspecting (and saying) for the last 8 years.
Anyway, this news comes as a surprise to me, since I thought it had already been voted upon and passed.
I’m all for immigration (we’re all immigrants here anyway, unless you’re an Indian…er…native american). I’m just against ILLEGAL immigration. If we need to make it easier to legally immigrate, fine, let’s do that. But in the meantime let’s close the border and send those who are here illegally home.
Joey Gibson:
Precisely. I realized quite a while ago that GWB was no conservative. What was really disgusting about this bill (apart from the whole amnesty aspect of it) was that they “promised” to increase border security. Well, there are already laws on the books mandating tighter border security, including the one they passed a year or two ago to build a fence along the Mexican border. I haven’t seen that fence being built yet, have you?
