I found a link today to a video of Ann Coulter at CPAC that is completely crass and tasteless. Now, I usually love Ann Coulter, because of how she gets liberals’ boxers in such a bunch, and Lord knows how much fun upsetting liberals is. But in this instance, she just went too far. You can watch the video for yourself, but her comment was this:

I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word “faggot,” so I - so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.

The reaction from the crowd was weak, at best. I would class it as nervous “courtesy” laughter. I don’t know what she was thinking, but comments like this do nothing but perpetuate the myth that Conservatives don’t like people who are “different.”

Now, a bunch of people over on FreeRepublic are leaping to Ann’s defense, saying she was just doing it to piss off liberals, but I’m one person on the right who thinks she went too far.

Well, they’ve done it. The Republicans in Congress, in there never-ending quest to save us from ourselves, have passed a bill that seeks to stop all online gambling. Well, by “all” they mean “anything except lotteries.” At least the last version of the bill that I saw had that exclusion. According to that Bloomberg article, President Bush is expected to sign the bill.

These people make me sick. They need to be more concerned about NOT covering up the sexual liaisons of Rep. Foley, instead of trying to stop 900,000 Americans from enjoying poker online.

Oh yeah, those gutless wonders didn’t even have the balls to actually try to pass this bill on its own. So what did they do? They stuck it onto a PORTS SECURITY bill to ensure it would go through. They knew that the public did NOT want this bill passed, but they snuck it in anyway. Lousy Bastards.

But what am I gonna do? The Libertarians don’t stand a chance in hell of ever winning any major office and, besides, they wouldn’t bother to defend this country from explosive Islamic “peaceniks”, or the Mexican invasion, so those guys are out. As I said before, I can’t vote Democrat. I’m not so desperate to play online poker that I will sell my country out to the party of defeat. So I’m left either not voting, or continuing to live on the Republican Plantation and voting for “da massa.”

One thing I am going to do is join the Poker Players Alliance, who are doing everything they can to keep online poker in America. If you care about your freedom to game as you choose, you should join, too.

You know, this stuff just writes itself. Last week the Pope called out Islamic extremists for being, essentially, murderous barbarians. He was quoting a 14^th-century Byzantine Christian emperor who apparently knew more than we do. Anyway, they were not too happy with being labeled as murderous barbarians, so what do they do? They threaten to act like murderous barbarians, and then they start acting like murderous barbarians. That’ll show the world how peaceful the “Religion of Peace” is. The Pope has now issued an apology, the pansy. He shouldn’t have. And the representatives of Islam are doing nothing but proving his point.

Newt Gingrich has a list of eleven points that the Republicans should adopt in order to stay in power. He’s dead-on with this list. But the chances of the gutless wonders that pass themselves off as Republicans these day listening to him are two: slim and none.

The list is as follows. My comments are under the headings.

Make English the Official Language of Government

This is such a no-brainer, but Republicans are terrified of it. If you come to live in this country, you had better learn to speak English. This doesn’t mean you have to abandon your native tongue. It just means that we stop catering to people too lazy to learn English, or those who just refuse to do so.

Control the Borders

We are being invaded from Mexico. It’s long past time for it to stop.

Keep God in the Pledge

91% of Americans support it.

Require a Voter ID Card

I’m a little uncomfortable with this one, but something has to be done to stop dead people and illegal Mexicans from voting in our elections. I don’t like the idea of “Papers, please,” but we need to at least decide that something has to change.

Repeal the Death Tax, for Good

It’s absolutely obscene the way the government rapes you once you’re dead.

Restore Property Rights

The Kelo decision from the Supreme Court is a travesty. Without property rights, there is no liberty.

Achieve Sustainable Energy Independence

We need to lessen our dependence on the Middle East for our fuel. I completely support ramping up (rapidly) our nuclear capabilities, but some of his other points, I’m not so sure about.

Control Spending and Balance the Budget

When the Republican’s won the House in 1994, they preached controlling spending. But after a few years in power, they started spending like drunken sailors. I have no doubt that if Democrats had remained in power all this time that we’d be worse off than we are, but claiming “Hey, we’re not as bad as we could be” is not a valid defense.

Tie Education Funding to Teacher Accountability

I don’t use the public school systems because they are not much more than liberal indoctrination centers. However, they need to change for those people who have to use them. Holding teachers accountable for student performance is a reasonable thing to do.

Defend America From the Irreconcilable Wing of Islam

Stop referring to the so-called “War on Terror.” It’s not a war on “terror.” Terror is a concept or a strategy. Our enemy is radical, militant Islam. Practitioners of the great “Religion of Peace” are our enemy. Not all of them, but many. And given the silence from so many quarters of Islam, they may not support what the jihadists are doing, but they don’t altogether oppose it, either.

Focus on Iran and North Korea

The weird-beard in Iran and the little troll in North Korea are going to become more of a problem the longer they are allowed to continue to try to become nuclear. No matter what either of them says, their uranium enrichment is not for “energy purposes.” They are working on weapons and we can’t afford to let them have them. North Korea claims to already have a nuclear weapon, though (to my knowledge) this hasn’t been confirmed.

That’s the list. If every Republican in the House would adopt these principles and campaign on them, things would be heading in the right direction. But they won’t.

Neal Boortz has a great list posted today with reason not to vote for Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians. I do disagree with a couple of his statements about Republicans, but not many.

His list is also troubling. Who to vote for? I generally vote Republican, but there are great reasons not to vote for them in ‘06/’08. There’s not a chance in hell I’d vote Democrat. And while I did have a dubious flirtation with the Libertarian party a few years ago, they don’t have a chance in hell of getting elected. Plus, they don’t want to protect our borders. So… what’s left? Not much. I suppose I’ll go to the polls, hold my nose and vote for the least odious candidates I can find until a real conservative candidate finally comes along… But I won’t hold my breath.

I swear I get really tired of people who think everyone else owes them something. Read this story for an example. Despite what that moron Daryl Hannah thinks, the land belongs to the guy that paid for it and it’s his to do with as he pleases. The “farmers” who have been squatting there for 15 years should have to pay him rent for the time they’ve been squatting there.

The article is full of idiotic quotes, such as this from “Stephanie,” a 21 year-old genius who is a “mathematics tutor.” Here’s what this beacon of intelligence had to say:

“It’s not healthy to live in a place of steel and carbon monoxide,” she said. “I hope these people get the land.”

Well boo-frickin-hoo. It’s not your land, sweetheart, it’s his. It’s not the “farmers’” land, either, it’s his. Now shut up and go indoctrinate some more students at your government school.

I hate this woman with a passion. Just the sound of her voice makes me want to stick a wooden spoon down my throat to induce vomiting. I used to live in her district, was completely unrepresented by her and witnessed first-hand how she cares nothing about her non-black constituents. She is a bigot and a race-baiter and no better than Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. The day the people in GA’s 4th Congressional district wake up and elect a real representative will be a great day, indeed.

Actually, they did it once. Her name was Denise Majette. She was elected to McKinney’s seat in 2000, if I remember rightly. Majette wasn’t much better than McKinney, but anything better than McKinney is still better than McKinney. Then 2004 rolled around and Majette decided that after a single term in Congress, she was ready to head to the Senate. She lost her Senate run and McKinney re-took her House seat. Smooth move, Denise…

Ooooooooo… The United Nations has demanded that Iran stop enriching uranium. Yeah? Big freakin’ deal. The U.N. is not going to do anything to Iran if they refuse, which they will. The U.N. is gutless, worthless, a gigantic waste of oxygen. The Security Council passed 14 resolutions against Iraq and what did it get us? Nothing. Bupkus. Zip. Zero. Nada. It wasn’t until the U.S. took action that anything happened, and then the U.N. was all whining and moaning that someone had actually done something.

They might pass a few more resolutions and demand, with righteous indignation, that Iran had better do what they say or there will be “serious consequences”, but that’s about all. No consequences will be dealt out unless the U.S. does it.

This reminds me of an interview I saw with John Cleese in which he discussed the English Bobby and how they don’t carry guns. He said something along the lines of how ineffective this was since all they could do when trying to stop a criminal was yell

Stop! … Or… I’ll say “stop” again!

Since the U.N. is a bunch of gutless wonders who won’t take any action, that quote pretty much sums them up. But they don’t realize how absurd they are, as this statement from the article shows

Diplomats portrayed the statement, which is not legally binding, as a first, modest step toward compelling Iran to make clear that its program is for peaceful purposes.

“Compelling?” Really? How? What about this is going to compel Iran to do anything? They know that the U.N. is nothing but a bunch of useful idiots who will rattle sabers, but nothing more.

So in a few months, after Iran has kept chugging along with its dastardly plans, look for another “stern” resolution from the U.N. that basically says “OK, we really mean it this time. You better stop.” Yep, that’ll do it.

I’m coming to the conclusion that Islamic terrorism is our second biggest problem in the US. Our biggest problem is the flood of illegal Mexicans invading our country every night. For some reason Bush refuses to do anything about it. In fact, he’s trying to aid and abet these criminals by proposing an amnesty program. Oh, sorry, he says (over and over and over) that it’s not an amnesty, that it’s a “guest worker” program, but that’s crap. It’s amnesty, and it doesn’t matter how many times he says it isn’t.

I heard John McCain discussing the it’s-not-an-amnesty amnesty plan with all its fines and requirements and such. But there’s no plan to enforce it. Part of the plan says that the illegals who try to use it must pay a $2,000 fine. What if they refuse? There’s a requirement that they must learn English. What if they refuse? They have to leave after 6 years. What if they refuse? We have perfectly good laws dealing with these criminals on the books right now that aren’t being enforced because, we’re told, there are so many illegals here that it’s just not possible to enforce the laws. Why should we believe that this new plan, should it become law, will be any easier to enforce, or that it would be enforced with any sort of zeal?

Another whine I’ve heard is “but some of these people have been here for 20 years. They have ties to the community.” So? Just because they’ve managed to evade capture and deportation for 20 years we give them a pass? That would be like saying “Yes, he robbed a bank 20 years ago, but since then he’s invested the money in mutual funds.” Please.

These illegals are criminals. They don’t deserve to be treated with “dignity” and they certainly don’t deserve to profit from their illegal actions by being allowed to become citizens when there are people who have been waiting a long time to get in legally. If they are unhappy with their third-world paradise, then it’s their responsibility to change their own country, not impose upon ours. We have got to stop this before it gets completely out of hand. Or has it already?

Notice the Mexican flag flying over the upside-down American flag. Hey kids, if you love Mexico so much, there are daily non-stop flights that will take you straight to Vicente Fox’s third-world paradise. You can see more photos of this outrage here.

You know, if the guys in ICE had a lick of sense, they would send thousands of agents to rallies like this, or the 500,000-person protest in LA last week, and let the deportations begin. You know that a great deal of those expressing “outrage” that we would try to keep criminals out of our country are, themselves, criminals. What better way to get rid of them? We keep hearing that there are “11 million illegals in this country, there’s no way to find them all.” Well, maybe not all of them, but if you could easily round up a few thousand, it would be a good start.

And there was much rejoicing. W held a press conference this morning and that obnoxious little troglodyte Helen Thomas hit him with some whiny question from the left that basically went “Whyyyyyy did youuuu wanttt to go to war from the mooooment you stepped into the Whiiiiiite House??? boo hoo hoo… whah whah whah” (The long words were the ones she whined more than the others…) W came back at her with a vengeance that he hasn’t shown in a while. It was a nice change that he didn’t just try to placate her. The only thing that would have made it better is if he had stepped down from the podium and punched her right in the mouth.

I only wish he would show the same amount of backbone when it comes to stopping the invasion of illegal Mexicans coming across our Southern border every night.

For all you whiny people who keep screaming “We live in a police state” about America, check this out. In Australia Austria, a man has been sentenced to 3 years in jail for denying that the Holocaust took place. 3 years in the clink for stating his opinion. Now that smacks of a police state when you can be imprisoned for speaking an unpopular opinion. Or just for being stupid, which this guy clearly is for denying the Holocaust happened when there is so much evidence that it did.

As a kid I used to hate it when the President would be on TV because it interrupted my regular viewing. And when you only had 10 channels or so, and they all showed the President, there weren’t many options. As I got older I realized the importance of addresses like the SotU, but now I’m not so sure this address is useful or relevant any more. Fifty years ago (or 100 years ago) information and news were not so easy to come by as they are now. An address by the President was actually a vehicle for him to inform the public of his goals and accomplishments. But with the Internet and 900 24-hour cable networks, what’s the point? I guarantee you that President Bush will say nothing tonight that 90% of the public doesn’t already know. It will be nothing more than a pep rally, a 3-hour address with about 1.5 hours taken up with meaningless applause by people who don’t really mean it (on both sides of the aisle). In other words, I think the SotU has outlived its usefulness and become a relic of a time when information was not so readily available.

Having said that, if W used the SotU as an opportunity to heap scorn and shame upon Congressional Democrats, then it might regain some relevance… heh heh heh… I don’t look for that to happen, though…

Sorry, W, but anything short of prison or deportation for everyone who enters this country illegally is, by definition, an amnesty program. Just repeating that it isn’t an amnesty over and over does not make it so.

Any time liberals get caught red-handed, they start whining about how what they’ve done is being “taken out of context.” I think the context is pretty clear in this story about a liberal high school teacher who gave his students a vocabulary quiz taking jabs at the President.

The left is always telling us how amazingly compassionate and tolerant they are, and how mean and intolerant those of us on the right are. They usually tell us that when we try to save babies from being murdered or when we try to stop people coming into this country illegally. Anyway, here’s a story about a worthless ass-clown college professor who really shows his true stripes. Not only should this guy be fired (which he won’t be) but he should probably be beaten by an angry mob (which also won’t happen).

The airwaves are being inundated with ads for the new George Clooney flic Good Night, and Good Luck which is supposed to be an illuminating piece about the “Black Night of Fascism” under Senator McCarthy. The ad states something along the lines of “liberals and conservatives alike should see this film!” I’ve run that statement through a SuperSecret Decoder Ring I stole from a liberal friend and this is how it translated that statement: “liberals should see it to reaffirm what they already know, and conservatives should see it so they can be shown ‘the truth’.” Yeah, the truth. Ann Coulter wrote a book about McCarthy called Treason that is an excellent read on the topic. She also has a great article today about the Clooney film.

Michelle Malkin has a story today about flippy liberals tripping all over themselves to remain PC, even when the facts of the story don’t need it. Go read it here and prepare to laugh.

This article quotes whiny French President and head surrender-monkey as saying that his country needs more “diversity” to quell the Muslim riots that have been going on in his country for three weeks now. Sorry. He’s wrong. It’s this absurd liberal quest for “diversity” that is causing his problems. When people move into a country and absolutely refuse to assimilate, you are headed for disaster. Those Muslims in France (and yes, the vast majority of the rioters are Muslim) don’t want to be French. They want a Muslim state inside France. No amount of coddling or government “action” is going to change that. Well, unless the police are allowed to start shooting the rioters. That might change things, but “dialog” and combating “discrimination” aren’t going to help.

We are rapidly moving towards the same problem here in America, although here the problem is Mexicans, not Muslims. I live in the South. We have ever-growing pockets of Mexicans who will not learn English if their lives depended on it. And why should they? We as a country are bending over backwards to accommodate them so they don’t have to. Government forms in Spanish, driver’s license tests in Spanish, restaurant menus in Spanish. This is America, dammit. We speak English here. The Congress is too gutless to pass a law mandating English as our official language (though the French, the heroes of the left, mandate French), and we are rapidly losing our national identity.

In times past, people came to this country for opportunity. They came to America and immediately started trying to assimilate. That meant learning English. It didn’t mean abandoning their culture and heritage. It simply meant trying to fit in to their new country. That doesn’t happen any more. We have people who have lived in this country for 20 years and still can’t/won’t speak a word of English. That’s despicable, not something to be “celebrated.”

Last Friday I visited a local government elementary school. As I was walking through the halls, I was greeted at one point by an enormous banner which read “Celebrate Diversity.” Gag me. The motto of this country is “e pluribus unum” which means “out of many, one.” The idea of America as a “melting pot” is all but lost. We are so wrapped up in “celebrating our differences,” so worried about “offending” anyone that no one is willing to say that we need to get back to having a national identity. And you need to learn English to be a part of that identity.

Why is it that so many liberals worship at the alter of Che Guevara? I laugh openly when I see some moronic liberal chick/guy walking around wearing a t-shirt with the “classic” image of Che, because they are either so stupid that they really think he was a good guy, or they have no idea who he was and just think the shirt is “cool.”

I bring this up because there’s a link on boing boing today to a t-shirt that mixes the image of Che with that of Mario. Yeah, it was kind of cute, but what set me off was the text that Cory Doctorow wrote as his introduction:

This t-shirt mashes up the canonical Che Guevara image with Mario — sure, Che helped liberate Cuba and Bolivia, but what did he ever do to save Mushroom Princesses?

I just love the line about “liberating” Cuba. Cuba is so liberated that they had to build a fence to keep the people from leaving. Moron. I just may have to buy one of these shirts that gets it right.
